Guildford Parks
Operational Service Standards 2000

 

 

 These standards cover operations supervised from the Council Offices at Millmead House and Stoke Park Nursery Office.

This document should be used together with the Parks Strategic Objectives and Action Plan which describes plans and targets to improve the service.

Answering the telephone:

Within 15 seconds in normal office hours i.e. 9:00 a.m. to 5:00pm Mondays to Fridays excluding Bank holidays

Replying to letters:

Most responses sent within 5 working days, 10 working days is the maximum period (this response may be one of our targeted acknowledgement cards)

Customer Feedback (complaints and compliments):

Dealt with in the first instance as per the officer named on the site list
If not resolved then by General Manager or Deputy General Manager, including the Council's complaints procedure when appropriate.

Children's Playgrounds

We will inspect 3 times a week
Damaged equipment will be made safe and repaired within 7 days
Offensive or derogatory graffiti will be removed within 48 hours.

Parks Patrol

Will be on duty until 9 pm every night of the year
Will respond with a site visit to 80% of call-outs within 30 minutes
Will carry out at least 5 dog fouling awareness and education events per year
Will carry out a minimum of 6 ticket checks on tennis court users per season

 Park Locking

Parks on the current published list will be locked at 9:00 pm or dusk whichever is the later and unlocked between 7:30 and 8:00 am every day including weekends.

Litter

Litter bins will be emptied and litter will be picked up at least 3 times a week.
Very high use areas (EPA zone 1) will be cleansed every day and will include the cleansing of dog faeces
Dog faeces bins will be emptied at least once a fortnight

Public Toilets in parks

Will be cleaned daily and be open from 8:00 am to at least 6:00 pm (or dusk if it is earlier)
Will be kept locked shut if there are any reports of antisocial activities in them

Pesticide Use

All applications will be recorded. Suitable signs and other precautions will be taken to inform the public when spraying is in progress

Grass Areas

Will be mown as suitable to the surface use. For example bowling greens are mown as many as 60 times a year, while a wildflower meadow may only be mown once. Further details, according to site, available direct from section managers.

 

REPORTING: Where these performance indicators are not included in the Council's Best Value PI's (which are reported quarterly to the Audit Committee) they will be reported annually in the Information Bulletin.
